If your brief still says “Palmilla Golf Club included,” update it. Effective 1 January 2025, Palmilla Golf Club’s own membership page states that the Arroyo and Mountain courses are exclusive to One&Only Palmilla Golf Club members and One&Only Palmilla resort guests.
That sentence is the whole problem for independent villa renters — and the reason this note exists.
What changed (and what did not)
Palmilla has long been a Jack Nicklaus 27-hole layout (Ocean, Mountain, Arroyo nines). For years, many villa listings treated “Palmilla golf” as a soft amenity: call the shop, book a tee time, ride over from the house.
As of the club’s published 2025 membership policy, Mountain and Arroyo are no longer a casual guest-play assumption for people staying in a private residence outside the resort and outside membership. Resort guests and members remain the named audiences for those two courses.
The Ocean course continues to appear in the club’s public course pages and tee-time systems. Treat Ocean availability, pairing rules, and rates as confirm-before-you-promise items for your travel dates — club policy and inventory change, and we do not invent tee sheets from a blog post.
What independent villa guests should ask
Before you hold a home because “golf is nearby,” put these questions in writing to the property manager or advisor:
1. Does this lease include club membership privileges, reciprocal cards, or resort-guest status? Most private villas do not.
2. Which nines are bookable for our party on these dates? Ask specifically for Ocean vs Mountain/Arroyo — not “Palmilla golf” as a brand word.
3. Who books — guest, villa desk, or our concierge? Handicap notes, preferred tees, and cart/caddie norms matter for pace.
4. What is the backup course? Querencia, Puerto Los Cabos, Cabo Real, and other Corridor clubs are common Plan B when Palmilla inventory or access is tight.
5. Is anyone in the party an existing Palmilla Golf Club member? Member guest rules can differ from pure outsider play; still confirm in writing.
If a listing website still shows a 2023-era amenity bullet about unlimited Palmilla golf, treat it as stale marketing until the PM reconfirms for your week.
How we run golf days from a Palmilla villa
From an East-Corridor residence, golf is usually a half-day or paced 18 with lunch — not a scramble across three clubs in one afternoon. Our concierge golf desk coordinates:

- Tee times where guest play is open
- Transfer so you are not Uber-negotiating in golf shoes
- Lunch hold so the round does not collapse into a hanger meal
We will say “not this week at Mountain/Arroyo” rather than stretch a villa amenity list into a false tee time.
When One&Only stays make more sense
If the brief is “we must play Mountain and Arroyo that week,” an One&Only Palmilla stay (or membership path) may be the honest product — not an independent villa with a recycled golf sentence. Conversely, if the brief is exclusive-use bedrooms, a private kitchen, and multi-gen staffing, a villa often wins and golf moves to Ocean or a neighbor club.
Those are different products. Mixing them on one PDF creates disappointed principals.
